Field Service Engineer - Generators Location: Bristol, Gloucester, Taunton Salary: 35,000 - 40,000 + overtime OTE: 50,000+ Benefits: Company vehicle, on-call bonus, mobile phone, laptop, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays An established engineering business is looking to appoint a Field Service Engineer to support a busy depot across the South West and South Coast. This is a predominantly field-based role, with some depot-based work required depending on business needs. The successful candidate will support the Depot Foreman with day-to-day engineering requirements, working on generator equipment both at customer sites and within the depot. This is a great opportunity for an engineer with experience in generators, plant hire, mechanical maintenance, electrical fault finding, temporary power, standby power or critical power generation. The Role You will be responsible for carrying out service, maintenance, repairs and fault finding on generator equipment across customer sites and within the depot. The role will involve both mechanical and electrical work, including control panels, AC/DC systems and genset synchronisation. You will also support the out-of-hours callout rota, liaise directly with customers and complete relevant service documentation. Responsibilities Carry out servicing and maintenance on generators both on-site and in the depot Complete mechanical and electrical repairs Fault find across control panels and AC/DC electrical systems Work on genset synchronisation Support the out-of-hours callout rota, currently 1 in 5, including bank holidays when required Liaise directly with customers in a professional manner Complete daily vehicle defect reports Complete paperwork linked to equipment maintenance, including service sheets and PDI sheets Follow health and safety procedures at all times Support depot engineering requirements when needed Requirements NVQ in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Experience within generators, plant hire or a similar engineering environment Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability Able to prioritise workload and complete weekly service schedules on time Full UK driving licence, held for a minimum of 3 years Confident working independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills Customer-focused approach Forklift licence would be beneficial, although training can be provided Package 35,000 - 40,000 basic salary Overtime available, with OTE above 50,000 Company service vehicle On-call bonus Mobile phone Laptop 25 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays Training and development Opportunity to join a busy, established engineering team This role would suit an experienced engineer from a temporary power, standby power, critical power, generator, plant, marine, HGV or ex-forces engineering background.
