Invigilator (Zero-Hours) Location: Brighton Salary: £14.26 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay Vacancy Type: Permanent Brighton College is seeking to appoint Theatre Staff on a zero-hour basis. Main Purpose of the Role: In this role you will work within an experienced team of invigilators conducting internal and external exams, ensuring that all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and that all regulations are adhered to. You will also carry out other exam related duties as instructed by the Exams Officer and the Head of Examinations. General Duties and Responsibilities Main duties: To conduct internal (including mock exams and admissions tests) and external exams in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), awarding body and Brighton College regulations and instructions. To have a key role in ensuring that the exam process is conducted in a fair and secure manner. Before exams: Report to and be briefed by the Exams Officer prior to each exam session. Keep confidential exam question papers and materials secure before, during and after exams. Ensure exam rooms are set up according to the requirements outlined by JCQ and the awarding bodies and complete the pre-exam checklist. Admit candidates into exam rooms under formal exam conditions, whilst confirming their identities (where necessary), and assist in seating them according to the required arrangements. Distribute the correct question papers and exam materials to candidates. Instruct candidates in the conduct of their exams (including reading any erratum notices), deal with any questions and then start the exams. During exams: Supervise and observe candidates at all times and be vigilant throughout exams, dealing with candidate questions according to the regulations. Keep disruption in exam rooms to a minimum and deal with emergencies, irregularities/suspected malpractice or disruptions effectively. Recording and reporting all instances of these to the Exams Officer/Head of Examinations. Ensure late candidates are briefed, seated and allowed the full time to complete their exam, whilst minimising disruption to other candidates. Complete attendance registers and sign the seating plan, informing the Exams Officer of any absent candidates by following the absent candidate procedure. After exams: Instruct candidates in finishing their exams (including the printing and signing of typed scripts) and then collect exam scripts and materials. Check candidates' names on scripts match the details on the attendance register and then dismiss candidates from the exam room. Securely return all exam scripts and materials to the Exams Officer. To ensure the exam rooms are prepared prior to the next exam. Other responsibilities: Undertake annual Safeguarding and Invigilator update training face to face, as part of this you would then need to complete an online training units after the face to face training. There would also be other review and update sessions will be conducted as required. Undertake, where required and where able, other duties requested by the Exams Officer, for example: Centre supervision of exam timetable clash candidates between exam sessions. Facilitating access arrangements for candidates, for example as a reader, scribe etc. (full training will be provided). Other exams-related administrative tasks including maintaining question paper security by supporting the 'second pair of eyes check'. Hours of Work Invigilators are required on a zero-hour basis to cover a variety of hours. Applicants must be available throughout the year, including the summer months. The services you provide to the College will be on an ad-hoc basis. This means that whilst the College will try to give you as much notice as possible when offering work, there is no obligation on the part of the College to provide such work nor for you to accept any work offered. Remuneration £14.26 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay. Holidays Holiday entitlement is included in the hourly pay rate for this role. Co-curricular Administrator (Music) Location: Brighton Salary: £13,798 per annum Vacancy Type: Permanent/Part Time Brighton College are seeking to appoint a Co-curricular Administrator (Music) on a part-time, permanent basis. Main Purpose of the Role: Reporting to the Performing Arts Technical and Facilities Manager alongside working closely with the Director of Music, the Co-curricular Administrator (Music) will support the music department on the day-to-day operations within a busy department. General Duties and Responsibilities Compile and publish a weekly schedule for the Music Department (week ahead). Attend the weekly College wide 'Week Ahead' meeting. Co-ordinate ensemble set up with the Performing Arts Music Technician, as directed by ensemble leaders and head of section. Co-ordinate with the Theatre Operations Manager for set up cover needed during staff absences. Co-ordinate with the Performing Arts Technical and Facilities Manager for specialised technical assistance needed, providing the request at least five weeks in advance. Oversee the successful administration of all ensembles and the choral programme including room bookings and communication to both pupils and staff. Oversight of and make bookings for and manage the day to day running of music venues including bookings for non-music department events. Under guidance from the Performing Arts Technical and Facilities Manager and the Concerts and Recitals Manager act as the venue manager for the Sarah Abraham Recital Hall. Provide front of house assistance as requested by Concerts and Recitals Manager. Co-ordinate all elements needed for events and trip administration including; risk assessments, consent forms, bookings, transport and catering. Send parental letters for all co-curricular music items. Assist with the yearly set up/administration of SOCs co-curricular programme. Complete all administration required for the choral society rehearsals including room bookings, rehearsal schedules, processing fees, catering and acting as the point of contact for the choir members. Attend regular 1-1 meetings with the Director of Music. Attend and minute meetings where required by the Director of Music or Head of Academic Music. Attend departmental meetings hosted by the Performing Arts Technical and Facilities Manager. Assistance with Duke of Edinburgh trips and enrolment administration. Any reasonable management request. Person Specifications The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas: Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is essential. The candidate would be given ongoing training on the use of the Brighton College parent portal (the College's online system that allows parents to pay and book onto trips) amongst other tools such as SOCs (where the co-curriculum is managed) and iSAMs (the College's management information system). An ability and desire to learn the functionality of these pieces of software is essential. Demonstrable administrative experience with strong attention to detail. Exceptional organisation skills, with the ability to effectively manage your own workload and work in a fast-paced environment. A friendly and personable manner, with the ability to build strong working relationships across the College. The ability to show initiative and be proactive. A flexible and 'can-do' attitude. Experience of working in an education environment and/or front of house would be advantageous. Hours of Work The successful candidate will be required to work 22.5 hours per week. The working pattern for this role is Wednesday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break. This role will work term time (35 Weeks) plus an additional four weeks (39 weeks total).
