Business Development Manager M&E Maintenance Contracts
Chelmsford (HQ) £40,000 £60,000 base + commission + car/allowance + expenses

A leading building services provider is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join their team near Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven sales professional with a background in selling mechanical & electrical PPM / maintenance contracts across the commercial and hospitality sectors.

The Company

The business delivers high-quality planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive M&E solutions to a diverse portfolio of clients, including offices, hotels, leisure, and mixed-use commercial environments. With a strong reputation for service and reliability, the company is now looking to expand its client base through the appointment of a driven sales professional.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying, targeting, and securing new business opportunities.

  • Selling M&E maintenance contracts (PPM, compliance, and related services).

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships within facilities management, property, and hospitality.

  • Working closely with the operational team to ensure seamless delivery of contracts.

  • Achieving revenue and margin targets, supported by a project-based profit commission scheme (flexible depending on candidate).

Candidate Requirements
  • M&E / building services sales experience is essential; candidates with strong construction sector experience will also be considered.

  • Proven track record of selling PPM / maintenance contracts.

  • Established network across the commercial and hospitality sectors.

  • Consultative sales approach with the ability to secure and grow long-term partnerships.

  • Good knowledge of building services, compliance standards, and FM operations.

  • Based within reach of Chelmsford and prepared to travel regularly to client sites.

Package
  • Base salary: £40,000 £60,000 (depending on experience)

  • Commission / profit-share scheme (negotiable for the right individual)

  • Company vehicle or car allowance + mileage & expenses
