Infrastructure Engineer

Infrastructure Engineer - 5 months Contract - £400/day via Inside IR35 - onsite Shrewsbury- SCC FLEX CONTRACT

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This role is pivotal in maintaining, developing, and securing our core infrastructure systems to ensure high availability and performance across the organization. Candidates with previous NHS experience will be at a distinct advantage, given the complexity and regulatory requirements of healthcare IT environments.

Your responsibilities as an Infrastructure Engineer:

• Design, implement, and maintain robust infrastructure solutions across on-premises and cloud environments
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal uptime
• Manage and support virtualization platforms (eg, VMware, Hyper-V)
• Maintain and enhance network infrastructure, including Firewalls, Switches, and VPNs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and upgrades
• Develop and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing
• Provide 3rd line support and mentorship to junior engineers

As a suitable Infrastructure Engineer, you will have:

• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
• Previous experience working within the NHS or other healthcare settings
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments
• Proficiency in Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
• Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
