System Safety and Interoperability Engineer

System Safety Engineer - London (Hybrid) We are working in partnership with a client to recruit a System Safety Engineer to support the delivery of complex railway infrastructure projects. The role focuses on system safety and interoperability assurance across design and construction phases, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.The successful candidate will support design and construction teams, manage hazard identification and risk assessments, maintain technical assurance documentation, and provide guidance on system safety practices. This role involves producing reports, tracking assurance deliverables, and contributing to continuous improvement of assurance processes.Key Responsibilities

• Support system safety and interoperability management plans and procedures
• Liaise with design and construction teams and subcontractors to ensure safety compliance
• Produce and submit asset-specific system safety reports
• Advise project teams on system safety practices and procedures
• Deliver briefings and awareness training on system safety topics
• Track assurance deliverables and maintain configuration control
• Contribute to technical assurance activities for certification

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience in system safety and interoperability assurance in railway projects
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
• Technical reporting and documentation proficiency
• Familiarity with project information tools such as MS Office, DOORS, ProjectWise
• High attention to detail and analytical skills

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge of certification processes for railway systems
• Experience delivering system safety training and briefings
• Experience with phased construction projects
