Supplier Technical Manager

TECHNICAL MANAGER REQUIRED IN NEWPORT, SHROPSHIRE

Are you an experienced Technical Manager from the food manufacturing industry who is actively seeking a new job, and do you live in Shropshire or are you able to get to Shropshire daily?!

We are actively seeking an experienced Technical Manager for a food production business based in Newport, Shropshire, the working hours for this job is day shifts (8am-5pm) Monday to Friday, and the job comes with a basic salary up to £45,000 per annum, with a £5,000 car allowance also available.

The hiring manager is looking for someone with Supplier Assurance / Supplier Auditing experience, and they are looking for someone who is Lead Auditor trained and has a good working knowledge of Smeta/GRASP.

We are looking for someone who holds a HACCP Level 3 qualification as a minimum requirement.

Some occasional travel will be required to visit customers (both UK and overseas), so you must also hold a valid passport.

What You Will Do:

• Manage and continuously improve supplier approval and monitoring processes to ensure compliance with BRC, regulatory, customer, and industry standards.
• Conduct supplier audits, including regular travel to assess and enhance supplier performance.
• Oversee the approval and annual performance review of suppliers and service providers.
• Collaborate with the Technical Team to review and update VACCP/TACCP and raw material risk assessments.
• Create and maintain raw material micro and chemical schedules, investigating non-conformances and reporting exceedances.
• Drive technical and ethical projects across the supply base, identifying continuous improvement opportunities.

What You Will Bring:

• Proven experience in supplier approval, monitoring, and audits within the food industry.
• Strong knowledge of BRC, Red Tractor/Global GAP, LEAF, and ethical compliance standards such as Smeta and GRASP.
• HACCP Level 3 certification and Lead Auditor training.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
• A proactive attitude with commercial awareness and a commitment to driving quality improvements.
