Electrical Design Engineer

Electrical Design Engineer | SC Clearance Eligibility Required | Defence Manufacturing Company | Birmingham | Salary up to £55,000

MERITUS are excited to be working with working with an Electrical Manufacturing Defence Company based in Birmingham. We're searching for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their team.

If successful you will be responsible for developing electrical design solutions from concept through to approval, making sure all work meets technical and compliance standards. You will be designing practical engineering solutions for a variety of Defence clients working alongside mechanical engineers to ensure designs are fully integrated and fit for purpose.

They're based in Birmingham & require candidates to be eligible for SC level security clearance.

Main Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed electrical documentation, including calculations, component selection notes and test plans.
• Check designs against specifications and ensure they meet all safety and legislative requirements.
• Work closely with mechanical design teams to deliver complete engineering solutions.
• Follow structured design processes, ensuring key approvals and technical sign-offs are achieved at the right stages.

Required Skills:

• At least 3 years' experience in control panel or low voltage power distribution design, with a practical engineering background.
• Confident in electrical system design and component specification, ideally with exposure to PLCs, motor control, distribution systems or VSDs.
• Experience using E-Plan or similar electrical CAD software (training can be provided for the right person).
• A good understanding of testing and automation processes, with the ability to produce test plans when required.
