Job Purpose

We're looking for a dual-skilled field service engineer-someone who brings solid electrical expertise and a second core skill such as mechanical or instrumentation.

This is a hands-on role in our Kendal production team, where you'll be working in a fast-paced, modern environment maintaining and improving critical water assets. You'll need to be confident across both disciplines, ready to tackle a wide range of maintenance tasks and contribute to continuous improvement across the site.

If you're already flexi-skilled and thrive on variety, challenge, and technical problem-solving-this is your opportunity to make a real impact.

You'll be responsible for delivering both proactive planned maintenance and responsive support across your area of expertise, helping us meet key compliance and environmental standards. You'll also have the chance to contribute to both capital and operational projects-ensuring our assets are not just maintained, but continuously improved.

Here's how we reward your skillset:

If you're bringing one core skill to us (Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation) you'll start on a salary of £38,462, but if you've got two disciplines, you'll earn £44,320.

One core skill-don't go anywhere we will support with the training. Our dedicated team of training professionals will provide you a tailored development plan to help you build your skillset and get you seen.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and, where trained, mechanical equipment to ensure asset reliability and performance.
  • Support the delivery of compliance and safety standards, including statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to diagnose and resolve faults efficiently, minimising downtime.
  • Participate in the development programme to build mechanical capability if joining with an electrical-only background.
  • Contribute to capital and operational project work, ensuring assets are installed, maintained, and commissioned to the highest standards.
  • Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records and report any issues using the appropriate systems.
  • Support the optimisation of asset performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Work safely and confidently in confined spaces, following all relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders to support a collaborative working environment.

Skills & Experience

  • A full UK driving license is required for this role as travel to other sites maybe required.
  • Recognised qualifications in both disciplines (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repair within an industrial or utilities environment, alongside competency in a secondary discipline such as mechanical, instrumentation, or control systems.
  • A strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards, with the ability to work safely in high-risk environments.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Willingness and capability to develop mechanical skills if not already multi-skilled-training will be provided.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with colleagues, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Basic IT skills to input maintenance data and complete work records accurately.
