Systems Control Engineer West Midlands
£50,000 £55,000 + benefits
Monday Friday (days only no shift cover expected)

Are you a Controls Engineer who enjoys problem-solving, programming, and keeping fast-moving automated systems running at their best?

We're supporting a well-established manufacturer in the West Midlands area who are looking for a Systems Control Engineer to join their maintenance engineering team.

This is a single-site, days-based role within a large, high-volume automated production facility - Reporting to a hands-on Engineering Manager with a strong electrical and controls background.

You ll work closely with the wider engineering and production teams to maintain, improve, and optimise a range of PLC and SCADA-based control systems across high-volume manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and resolve control system faults across automated production equipment.
  • Modify and develop PLC and HMI code to support reliability and process improvements.
  • Support the ongoing modernisation of control systems and network infrastructure.
  • Liaise with engineering and maintenance teams to deliver safe, efficient solutions.
  • Maintain documentation, drawings, and backups for control systems and equipment.
Technical Experience
Ideally, you ll have experience with some or all of the following:
  • Siemens: Simatic Manager, TIA Portal (V15.1 V17), WinCC, WinCC 7.5 SCADA
  • Rockwell: Logix 5, 500, Studio 5000
  • Networking: Siemens Scalance, Switch Management (Industrial/General), Profisafe
  • Drives: ABB, Siemens, Nidec Inverter Drives
  • Software Tools: CAD/Visio for drawing, L2L & MFG systems for maintenance reporting
  • Effective use of test, measurement, and diagnostic tools relevant to plant maintenance
About You
  • Background in industrial, food, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of PLC, SCADA, and automation systems
  • Confident troubleshooting complex control issues and implementing solutions
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
