The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a
District Heating Design Engineer to join the design team of a reputable contractor. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative buried network designs, collaborating with civil, mechanical, and project delivery teams to produce high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities - Design buried district heating networks from concept through to detailed design.
- Produce and review technical drawings using CAD software.
- Collaborate with civil and mechanical engineers to integrate network layouts into wider construction plans.
- Prepare design documentation, drawings, and specifications in line with industry standards and client requirements.
- Provide technical support during project delivery and installation phases.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant regulations, health & safety standards, and best practices.
About You - Minimum 2 years experience in district heating or buried utilities network design.
- Strong understanding of CAD design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar).
- Solid grasp of civil works, including trenching, reinstatement, and utilities coordination.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Building Services Engineering).
