Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled Highway Inspector to join their team on a contract basis, focusing on the construction of specific sections of the A428 Development Consent Order (DCO) that will become the assets of the council. This role is limited to inspecting overbridges and junctions, excluding the mainline carriageway.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting site visits to spot-check construction activities
- Reviewing testing data and material tickets for compliance with approved drawings
- Inspecting specific sites including.
- Identifying deviations from the approved design and escalating issues to the project sponsor and on-site supervisor
- Reviewing soil testing data and ensuring compliance with design specifications
- Using a Skanska works vehicle for site inspections
- Advocating for the councils long-term interests throughout the construction process
- Checking into the scheme's site office before proceeding to site inspections
Job Requirements:
- Experience in inspecting the construction of major highway infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of highway engineering principles and construction practices
- Proficiency in reviewing technical data and ensuring compliance with design standards
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with project sponsors and supervisors
- Capability to work part-time, with flexibility to work in whole day blocks or spread across five days
- Willingness to utilise provided transportation for site visits
