Location: United Kingdom
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent (Contract may be considered)

Salary: 50,000 - 55,000

Role Overview

An established building services consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be qualified to HNC/HND level (or degree/chartered status) with proven experience in the UK construction industry, delivering HVAC design from concept through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical building services design activities from feasibility through to commissioning.
  • Undertake site surveys, full design development, technical reporting, and attendance at design team meetings.
  • Collaborate effectively with project leadership and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Carry out site inspections and support project delivery across all stages.
  • Engage confidently with clients and stakeholders in both meetings and presentations.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Experience designing HVAC systems within sectors such as commercial, distribution, retail, and residential.
  • Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations (including Part L) and low-carbon engineering principles.
  • General knowledge of wider MEP disciplines, BREEAM, and sustainability considerations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Competent user of Word and Excel; proficiency in AutoCAD essential.
  • Experience with Revit beneficial.
  • Familiarity with design software such as Hevacomp, OpenBuildings, or similar.
  • Professional and well-presented, with strong English language skills.
