Job Description

Are you driven by a passion for excellence, safety, and compliance in engineering? Imagine a role where your expertise directly impacts the standards and quality of energy infrastructure across Kent, Sussex, or Surrey. As our Lead Quality and Compliance Engineer, you'll be pivotal in ensuring our Capital Programme projects meet and exceed industry standards, keeping communities powered safely and efficiently.

UK Power Networks offers an attractive salary of 65,241, plus a 3% bonus, alongside a suite of benefits designed to support your professional and personal wellbeing.

Step into a varied and rewarding position where your day-to-day responsibilities include managing a team of three to six engineers conducting site-based audits, overseeing inspections and checks on projects valued between 40 and 60 million. You'll be accountable for the preparation and execution of inspection programmes, correct contractual application and resolution of defect notifications, and ensuring compliance with UK Power Networks' Engineering Standards, contract specifications, and manufacturers' requirements. You'll coordinate and uphold the Capital Programme Quality Management Plan, consolidate lessons learned to drive continuous improvement, and produce summary reports that highlight quality assurance and improvement opportunities. Your keen eye for detail will help you identify fault locations, repair minor defects, review as-built drawings, supervise both maintenance staff and contractors, and lead by example in instilling a safety culture across all activities.

We're seeking candidates with an ONC Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent, a strong grasp of construction techniques and standards, and ideally, a formal NEBOSH Health & Safety certificate (training can be provided). You should be able to read and interpret construction drawings, hold Substation Entry competencies, and possess a full UK driving licence. Commitment to organisational awareness, teamwork, compliance, and continuous personal development is key. All relevant training will be provided to ensure you succeed and grow within the role.

Managers and supervisors at UK Power Networks are entrusted with ensuring health and safety for all, including the public and partner organisations. Understanding and managing risks is essential, with a maximum weight limit of 116kg for certain safety equipment. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace, committed to diversity and inclusion across all identities and backgrounds.
