Job Description

Backhaul Systems Engineer - New Mission Critical Product Development

A Network/Backhaul Systems Engineer is required for the design of new product communication infrastructure, focusing on designing, implementing, and maintaining both the internal network elements and the crucial backhaul connections (the links to the core network) using technologies like Satcom and Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs).

Key Responsibilities

  • The core duties involve ensuring seamless, secure, and efficient data exchange across all connected systems.
  • Design and Implementation: Designing new network architectures and deploying hardware, including Firewalls, Switches, and Routers, to meet organizational needs.
  • Configuration and Maintenance: Installing, configuring, and upgrading network equipment and software to the latest releases and security patches.
  • Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Continuously monitoring network performance to identify bottlenecks, diagnose complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure maximum uptime.
  • Security Management: Implementing robust security measures, such as Firewalls, VPNs, and access controls, to protect the network from cyber threats and ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Backhaul Specifics (Satcom and MANET - Silvus):
    • Satcom: Integrating satellite communication systems with ground-based infrastructure to ensure connectivity in remote or non-traditional environments.
    • MANET (Silvus): Managing and optimizing Mobile Ad-hoc Networks using Silvus proprietary MN-MIMO radios. This involves leveraging self-forming, self-healing mesh network technology to provide robust, high-throughput communication links in environments without fixed infrastructure, often in mission-critical applications.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Creating and maintaining detailed documentation of network configurations, procedures, and diagrams, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.
  • Capacity Planning and Scalability: Analyzing current usage patterns, forecasting future demands, and planning network upgrades to ensure the infrastructure can scale.
