Job Description

Part-Time English Tutor (QTS Required)

  • Location: Birmingham
  • Hours: Part-time (flexible hours available - during school hours)
  • Contract: Casual

We are seeking a qualified and motivated English Tutor (QTS essential) to support students preparing for GCSE English Language and Literature. This role involves working with small groups and one-to-one learners, delivering targeted intervention to improve confidence, skills, and exam performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging English tuition aligned with GCSE specifications
  • Provide one-to-one and small group tutoring tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support students to improve reading, writing, and exam technique
  • Identify learning gaps and plan targeted interventions
  • Track progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents/carers
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and professionalism

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE English
  • Strong subject knowledge of English Language (and Literature desirable)
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners of varying abilities
  • Experience supporting students to improve grades and confidence
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Experience with intervention groups or alternative provision
  • Experience supporting SEND or high-needs learners
  • Familiarity with current GCSE exam boards
