Job Description

NXTGEN are pleased to be working with a growing, values-led organisation to recruit a Head of Commercial Finance into a senior leadership position that will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the business.

This is a standout opportunity to join an organisation on a clear growth trajectory, where culture, purpose, and people genuinely sit at the heart of decision-making. The successful candidate will operate as a true commercial partner to the wider business, influencing strategy, driving performance, and supporting senior leaders with high-quality insight to enable better, data-led decisions.

Key Responsibilities

The Head of Commercial Finance will be responsible for leading the commercial finance function and embedding strong financial insight across the organisation. Core responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing the Commercial Finance team, building capability and succession
  • Owning the commercial planning process, including pricing strategy, forecasting, margin analysis, and profitability reporting
  • Acting as a key business partner to operational and commercial leaders, providing insight and challenge to support decision-making
  • Developing and maintaining robust financial models for new business cases, tenders, contracts, and investment opportunities
  • Delivering accurate and insightful performance reporting, including KPIs, dashboards, and variance analysis
  • Driving improvements in efficiency, cost control, and return on investment across the business
  • Leading budgeting and reforecasting cycles, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
  • Working closely with stakeholders across sales, operations, and supply chain to support growth and margin targets
  • Driving continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting accuracy
  • Contributing to wider business strategy and long-term financial planning as part of the senior leadership team

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with proven experience operating in a senior commercial finance role, ideally within a fast-paced, complex, or multi-site environment.

You will bring a strong commercial mindset and the ability to influence and challenge non-financial stakeholders, operating as a trusted advisor rather than a back-office function. This role requires someone who is comfortable sitting at the centre of the business, shaping decisions, and balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

Strong leadership capability is essential, with experience developing teams and fostering a positive, inclusive culture aligned with business values. You will be analytically strong, detail-focused, and confident using financial insight to drive performance and support growth.
