Quantity Surveyor

Location: Essex / East London

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)

An established construction contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will support the commercial management of construction projects from pre-contract through to final account, working closely with project and site teams to ensure financial control and contractual compliance.

This role offers a combination of autonomous responsibility and collaborative working within a professional and well-structured environment.

• Manage cost and value reporting, including CVRs and project cost forecasts
• Prepare, submit, and agree interim applications, valuations, and final accounts
• Administer main contracts and subcontracts, including early warnings and compensation events
• Procure subcontract packages and manage subcontractor payments and final accounts
• Monitor project costs, risks, and opportunities, producing accurate commercial reports
• Attend site regularly to ensure records are maintained and commercial risks are identified
• Draft subcontract scopes, payment certifications, and applications for payment
• Liaise effectively with clients, project managers, and supply chain partners
• Support dispute avoidance and commercial issue resolution where required

• Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry
• Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract
• Experience in cost planning, estimating, and financial forecasting
• Good understanding of contract administration and commercial change management
• Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
• Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline
