What's the role? As Planning Manager (Major Projects), you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering some of the largest and most complex infrastructure programmes at London Gatwick.
You'll lead the planning and assurance of major capital projects typically valued in excess of £150m, within a wider portfolio ranging from £50m to £350m. These include transformational terminal developments, major pier extensions, and large-scale passenger experience enhancements.
Working closely with Programme and Project leadership, you'll ensure robust planning, control, and performance management across the full project lifecycle from concept approval through delivery and close-out within a live operational airport environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead the development and management of integrated control programmes from project concept to completion, including internal and external interfaces.
- Manage programme assurance activities, including contract programme evaluation, compensation events, and delay analysis.
- Drive schedule performance improvements across the supply chain, ensuring targets are consistently achieved.
- Lead, manage, and develop planning teams across multiple major projects and programmes.
- Contribute to planning standards, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the function.
- Support programme-level reporting, trend and change management, risk management, and performance forecasting.
- Champion world-class health, safety, and environmental standards across all projects and contractors.
What We're Looking For: - Extensive experience as a Senior Planner or Planning Manager on major infrastructure or construction programmes (£100m+).
- Proven experience working on multi-year, complex programmes in live operational environments.
- Previous experience leading and developing planning teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 with strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Demonstrable experience communicating complex planning and performance information to senior stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, influencing, coaching, and mentoring capability.
- Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
