£80,000 - £85,000 + Car Allowance
Permanent Full-Time Site-Based

High-Rise Residential (Steel Frame) with Commercial Units

Hill McGlyn Recruitment are proud to be working with a leading main contractor who is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Quantity Surveyor to take commercial lead on a flagship high-rise residential development.

This is a site-based position overseeing a major circa £50m scheme, consisting of steel-frame residential towers with commercial units at ground level. The role offers genuine responsibility, autonomy, and long-term career progression.

The Role:
Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will be commercially responsible for the project from start to final account, while also managing and mentoring junior members of the commercial team.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Full commercial management of a large-scale high-rise residential project
  • Leading procurement strategy and subcontract package placement
  • Producing cost reports, forecasts, valuations, and final accounts
  • Managing variations and change control
  • Supporting and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors
  • Working closely with site teams to ensure programme and budget alignment
  • Maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships
  • Ensuring commercial governance and profitability targets are achieved
The Candidate:
We are looking for a confident, commercially astute professional with proven experience delivering major residential schemes.

You must have:
  • Demonstrable experience working on projects circa £50m+ in value
  • Strong background in high-rise steel frame residential developments with commercial elements
  • Previous experience managing junior Quantity Surveyors
  • Main contractor experience is essential
  • Excellent knowledge of JCT contracts
  • Ability to operate autonomously on site while reporting at a senior level
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
