If you are a machinist who loves variety, problem solving and making parts that actually matter, this is a brilliant opportunity to join a high-performing in-house engineering team with a newly set up machine shop.
This is not production line machining. This role is about one-off and small batch components, repairs, improvements and bespoke equipment builds. You will become the go-to machinist for a busy engineering function, helping maintain momentum on projects and responding quickly when priorities shift.
You ll be working in a brand new machine shop environment that is being properly invested in, with real opportunity to shape how it operates.
The Role:
- Manual machining on lathe and mill (one-offs and small batch work)
- Operating an XYZ CNC Mill
- Working with various lathes (including smaller precision work)
- Using band saws, donkey saws and workshop cutting equipment
- Modifying existing parts drilling, boring, reworking and improving fit/function
- Interpreting engineer requirements and turning them into workable components
- Working confidently with hand and power tools
- Occasional assistance with mechanical assembly
- Supporting repairs, improvements and bespoke builds
- Maintaining 5S standards and high housekeeping levels
- Remaining flexible and adaptable as project priorities change
The Environment & Equipment:
- XYZ-style CNC mill
- Multiple lathes
- Band saw, donkey saw and workshop cutting equipment
- Cleaning/degreasing set-up being added
What We re Looking For:
- Proven machinist with workshop background (small batch/varied work ideal)
- Comfortable machining mixed materials (steel, aluminium, plastics, etc.)
- Practical, adaptable and solutions-focused
- Able to work independently while supporting a wider engineering team
- Comfortable managing longer jobs while reacting to urgent requests
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
