Wolviston Management Services are supporting our client in the appointment of a CNC Machinist Turner to join their heavy engineering machine shop operation in Teesside on a rotating mix of day and night shifts.
This role involves machining large, high-integrity components from billets, castings, forgings and fabrications using CNC lathes and vertical boring equipment. You will be responsible for setting, programming and operating high-capacity turning machinery within a quality-driven environment where precision and component care are critical.
Key Responsibilities: - Set, programme and operate ALPHA Colchester XT 1550 (Fanuc / Manual Guide i control)
- Operate Shibaura TUE-150S Vertical Boring & Turning Mill (2000mm swing, C-axis, driven tooling)
- Machine large-diameter components in one-off and low-volume batches
- Interpret detailed engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds and feeds for various materials
- Carry out manual inspection of dimensions and surface finish
- Maintain high standards of component care and quality compliance
- Adhere to site health, safety and environmental procedures
About You: - Time-served machinist with CNC turning and/or vertical boring experience
- Confident setting and proving out one-off components independently
- Strong understanding of Fanuc CNC controls
- Experienced in manual measurement and precision machining techniques
- Comfortable working in a heavy engineering environment
- Willing to work rotating day and night shifts
Essential Requirements: - Recognised machine shop apprenticeship
- Experience with CNC lathes or vertical boring/turning machines
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Competent with manual measuring equipment
