Senior C&I Designer Contract Ireland

Location: Ireland (near Cork)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Renewable Energy and Nuclear sectors. The role will be working as part of the client organization on site supporting upgrade and modifications to a live hydrocarbon plant. The successful person must be proficient in Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).

The role is outside IR35.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Site based role integrated as part of the client design team on a live operational hydrocarbon processing plant.
  • Producing new / updating existing detailed C&I design documentation including, loop diagrams, control panel schematics, cable calculations, filed connection diagrams, I/O schedules, control circuits, failsafe circuits, LV power distribution & protection, single line diagrams, control panel GAs and layouts.
  • Must be proficient developing designs using Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
  • The role will require regular site walks to assess the operational requirements and obtain data needed for successful completion of C&I designs.
  • The primary software used is Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) in addition to AutoCAD.
  • Working potentially on multiple projects at any given time.
  • Contributing to site requests by providing technical analysis.
  • Production of documentation to support construction.

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Must be qualified to ONC / HNC as a minimum.
  • Experience of EC&I engineering documentation.
  • Experience in Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) is essential.
  • Experience of PLC and DCS systems.
  • Must have proven experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochem, Renewable Energy sectors or similar.
