Shop Manager
Indian Grocery Store
Location: Plumstead
Hours: Between 9.00am - 9.00pm, Monday to Sunday (with scheduled time off during the week)
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and busy independent Indian grocery store located on a thriving high street in Plumstead. This is a hands-on management opportunity ideal for someone ready to step up into their first managerial role, provided they have solid, hands-on experience within an Indian grocery retail environment.
Ideal Background:
- Strong experience with Indian groceries within a retail setting
- Confident advising customers on spices, fresh produce, dry goods and traditional food items
- Previous senior team member, supervisor or keyholder experience would be advantageous
- Experience within an African grocery store would also be beneficial due to product crossover and customer base
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the overall running of the store and managing a small team of 2-3 staff
- Creating staff rotas and providing day-to-day supervision
- Delivering excellent customer service and product knowledge
- Stock control, ordering and supplier coordination
- Shelf stacking and maintaining strong visual merchandising standards
- Till management, cash handling and end-of-day cashing up
- Monitoring stock levels across fresh, frozen and ambient goods
- Ensuring compliance with food hygiene and health & safety standards
Our client is open to individuals looking to progress into a management role; however, you must already have sufficient in-store grocery experience to confidently lead from the front in a fast-paced retail setting.
