A growing SME-focused insurer is seeking a New Business Trading Underwriter to join their expanding business. This role combines technical underwriting with new business generation across an existing broker panel and new brokers. Personality, relationship-building, and commercial awareness are key to success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite SME risks with technical accuracy and commercial awareness
- Develop and grow relationships with existing and new brokers
- Support business growth through effective risk assessment and trading decisions
- Contribute to underwriting strategy and performance improvements
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth new business placement
Requirements:
- Proven underwriting experience within SME/commercial lines
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to assess risk
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Commercially minded with a proactive approach
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, expanding business
Location & Working:
- 3 days in the office - London City or Kent
- Hybrid/flexible working options
Salary & Benefits:
- Circa £70,000 depending on experience
