About the Company

We are a specialist fire protection contractor delivering LPCB-approved water mist and fire suppression systems across residential, commercial, hospitality and specialist sectors throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, we are looking to appoint a Design Engineer to join our technical team at our Wakefield head office.



The Role

This role will suit a Design Engineer with experience in mechanical, building services, MEP or specialist systems design who is looking to move into the fire suppression sector.

You will be responsible for developing compliant, practical and cost-effective fire suppression designs, working closely with Project Managers and Site Teams from concept through to installation.

Full support will be provided to develop sector-specific knowledge, including LPCB standards and relevant British Standards.



Key Responsibilities

  • Design of water mist and fire suppression systems

  • Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD (Revit desirable)

  • Carry out hydraulic calculations and system layouts

  • Prepare technical submittals and design documentation

  • Attend design coordination meetings

  • Work collaboratively with project and site teams

  • Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards and LPCB requirements



About You

We are open to candidates from a range of technical design backgrounds.



You may currently be working as:

  • Mechanical Design Engineer

  • Building Services Design Engineer

  • MEP Design Engineer

  • HVAC Design Engineer

  • Piping / Pipework Design Engineer

  • Fire Systems / Life Safety Design Engineer



Essential:

  • Experience in mechanical or building services design

  • Strong understanding of technical drawings and system layouts

  • AutoCAD proficiency

  • Ability to perform calculations (hydraulic or similar system-based calculations)

  • Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy



Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience in fire suppression or sprinkler systems

  • Knowledge of relevant British Standards

  • LPCB awareness or qualification

  • Revit / BIM experience

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical / Building Services Engineering
