Permanent Finance Manager, opportunity in West Yorkshire
Hays Senior Finance is proud to partner with an established SME to appoint a Finance Manager on a permanent basis. The organisation is ideally situated and commutable from Wakefield, Batley, Dewsbury, Mirfield and surrounding areas.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional to take ownership of the finance function, particularly management accounting and month-end processes. You'll also influence strategic decision making, and work closely with operational teams to drive performance and profitability. As a key member of the finance team, you'll combine hands on financial management with proactive business partnering, turning data into insight and helping the organisation scale with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead preparation of monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
- Provide insightful analysis, commentary, and recommendations to support decision making
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long term financial planning
- Maintain robust financial controls and audit ready documentation
Business Partnering- Support operational leaders with meaningful financial insight
- Conduct cost analysis, pricing reviews, margin analysis and scenario modelling
- Challenge assumptions and drive accountability for financial outcomes
- Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain teams
Process & Systems Improvement- Strengthen processes, controls and reporting efficiency
- Lead or support upgrades to ERP, finance systems or reporting tools
- Develop dashboards, KPIs and performance tracking metrics
Operational Finance- Manage cash flow, working capital and banking relationships
- Oversee payroll, supplier payments and credit control
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and HMRC requirements
- Co ordinate with year end accountants and auditors
About You- You will be a qualified finance professional, with post-qualification experience leading month-end processes, and experience in a business partnering function.
- Strong SME experience, in fast-paced commercial environments, such as manufacturing, engineering, distribution & logistics, or product based environments.
- UK finance experience is essential. You will also be fluent in written and verbal English, and a confident communicator who can simplify financial information for non-finance individuals.
- Hands on, proactive and commercially engaged
