Cable Engineer 1-year contract Looking for candidates nationally - Flexible across 20 different locations Day rate - Discussed upon Application (Umbrella) A Cable Engineer is required to join a design consultancy working on a 1-year contract in Cornwall on either Northern Power Grid or Greater Grid Projects. As a Cable Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing cable systems for power distribution and transmission, including the selection of cables, connectors, and installation methods, creating detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation using AutoCAD and CableCAD, conducting site surveys and assessments, performing technical calculations and analysis, ensuring designs are compliant, reviewing and approving design modifications, providing support during installations and quality checking throughout installations. The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering (or equivalent), have experience designing, manufacturing and testing HV cables for use in HVAC, have the capability to fulfil a role as a cable expert, and be willing to travel as required. The ideal candidate will have experience working on HVDC projects both onshore and offshore; including HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP), have an understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE policies, specifications and documentation, have experience witnessing 3rd party cable activities and have experience with Working Groups and Technical committees such as CIGRE and IEEE. The ideal candidate will also be working towards chartership, but the ideal characteristics are NOT essential.
