We're currently recruiting for a Corporate Accountant. We're now looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our Corporate Accountancy team. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Accountant, you will play a vital role in strengthening the Council's financial reporting framework, improving financial controls, and supporting the delivery of our ambitious programme of work. What you'll be doing? This role focuses on the Council's accounting responsibilities relating to fixed assets-a key and high profile area of the accounts with a diverse workload. This is not just a technical accounting post; you will also have the opportunity to work closely with services across the Council, offering a blend of technical and business partnering responsibilities. In this role, you will also: Support the closure of accounts, review financial controls, and drive improvements to key financial processes. Lead, maintain and continuously improve IFRS 16 lease accounting processes, ensuring strong controls and comprehensive supporting documentation are in place. Supporting the Deputy Chief Accountant in overseeing the Council's Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE) finance processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance. Ensure compliance with IFRS and CIPFA's Code of Practice for Local Government Accounting for all areas under your responsibility. Provide insightful financial guidance to services across the Council, championing strong financial governance and consistency. Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the financial support and insight we provide as a Corporate Finance team. The Surveyor plays a vital role by assessing and capturing the required elements that form the basis for submissions, operating across the South East. Full training will be provided, however a full UK driving license and access to a car is required. The Role: Carrying out surveyors of commercial properties across the whole of the UK (particularly North England) . The surveys consist of identifying qualifying capital expenditure of plant and machinery for business and property owners. This role involves a combination of tax, property, and surveying expertise to maximize capital allowances claims under CAA 2001 Legislation. Key Responsibilities: Driving to Survey Commercial Properties across the UK. Capturing all the relevant items within a property with our internal system. Preparing Reports - identifying within the properties items eligible for capital allowances via our own database system. Meeting with site contacts / clients - be able to communicate effectively the purposes of our survey to the relevant parties. Skills and Qualifications: Have a full UK drivers license and access to own vehicle. To be methodical and organised with surveys. To have good time management and be punctual. To be reliable and resilient working on their own, as well as work well and be part of a dynamic team. To have good IT skills and able to use iPad and laser measure equipment effectively. A key role within the Finance Department, you'll support Kew's mission by delivering timely and accurate financial accounting service, enabling effective decision-making by senior leadership, the Executive Board and Trustees. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you'll ensure the critical financial processes that underpin Kew's operations are working effectively and ensuring the needs of the organisation are met as we work to deliver our Manifesto for Change.
