A Workshop Plant Service Engineer is responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing, and rebuilding plant and heavy equipment within a workshop environment. The role ensures machinery is maintained to manufacturer standards and ready for safe operation or rental.
Key Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on plant equipment in the workshop.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults.
Carry out strip-downs, rebuilds, and component replacements.
Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) before equipment is sent to customers or job sites.
Use diagnostic equipment and manufacturer software to identify faults.
Replace parts such as:
Hydraulic pumps and hoses
Bearings and seals
Filters and belts
Sensors and electrical components
Maintain accurate service reports and maintenance records.
Follow health and safety procedures and workshop standards.
Assist with equipment testing and quality checks after repairs.
