CNC Sliding Head Machinist 6784

Location: Coventry
Hours: Double days
Salary: 17.77 an hour

Key Responsibilities of a CNC Sliding Head Machinist

  • Setting and operating CNC sliding head machines to produce precision components to tight tolerances.
  • Working with materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, brass and plastics.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure accurate manufacture.
  • Editing programmes and making offset adjustments using Fanuc or similar controls.
  • Carrying out first off inspection and in process quality checks using micrometers, verniers and gauges.
  • Ensuring machines are maintained, tooling is replaced as required and downtime is minimised.
  • Working to production schedules while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Key Skills of a CNC Sliding Head Machinist
  • Proven experience setting and operating CNC sliding head machines.
  • Strong understanding of Fanuc controls or similar systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Experience working to tight tolerances within a precision engineering environment.
  • Competent using a range of measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to shifts and overtime where required.

Key Skills of a CNC Sliding Head Machinist

  • Previous experience setting and operating CNC sliding head machines within a precision engineering or automotive environment.
  • Strong understanding of Fanuc controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Experience producing components to tight tolerances.
  • Confident using a range of inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team in a fast paced manufacturing environment
