Job Description

Role Purpose
Responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, delivering accurate reporting, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial insight to drive performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain financial integrity.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Provide variance analysis and commentary on performance.
  • Support cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Manage accruals, prepayments, and month-end close.
  • Provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
  • Partner with operational teams and budget holders.
  • Support statutory accounts preparation and audit processes.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT and financial regulations.
  • Maintain and improve financial controls and processes.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Support financial systems and process development.
  • Supervise and support junior finance team members.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders.

Person Specification

  • Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Experience in a finance role within an SME.
  • Strong experience in management accounting and reporting.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
  • Proficient in Excel and financial systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience in multi-entity or group environments.
  • Previous team management or mentoring experience.
  • Exposure to business partnering.
  • Experience improving financial processes or systems.
  • Broad sector experience.
