Glasshouse Technician (NSPP)

What You'll Do:
As a Glasshouse Technician, you'll play a vital role in the daily operations of our glasshouse. Your tasks will include:
- Sowing Seeds & Transplanting: Get hands-on with the growth process by sowing seeds and transplanting plantlets.
- Tissue Sampling & Harvesting: Engage in tissue sampling and assist in harvesting and threshing plants to ensure high-quality output.
- Seed Processing: Carry out essential seed processing activities, including seed cleaning, counting (automated), and labelling and registering.
- Pest & Disease Monitoring: Help monitor and manage pests and diseases to maintain a healthy glasshouse environment.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on glasshouse equipment and tools, such as respirator maintenance.
- Data Management: Update plant material tracking and data analysis files to keep everything organized and efficient.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to glasshouse processes and procedures.
- Safety First: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards within the glasshouse.
What We're Looking For:

- Experience: Previous experience in a horticultural or agricultural production environment is a plus.
- Plant Care Knowledge: Awareness of the growth and care requirements of plant material in a glasshouse is essential.
- Team Player: You must be able to work effectively in a team, understand set procedures, and pay attention to detail, even when performing repetitive tasks.
- Physical Stamina: Be prepared for a physically active role that may require standing for long periods and lifting or transporting materials.
- Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding health and safety protocols in a laboratory or production environment is crucial.
Desirable Qualifications (but not essential):
- Horticultural experience
- Experience working in a glasshouse environment
- Background in working with small teams
Education Requirements:
- A degree or equivalent in biological or agricultural science is preferred.
Contract length: Initially until December 2026
