Job Description

Maths Unqualified Teacher Enfield September 2026

A high-achieving secondary school with sixth form in Enfield is seeking a knowledgeable and committed Maths Unqualified Teacher to join their well-established Mathematics department from September 2026. This is a permanent Maths Unqualified Teacher role within a school rated Outstanding by Ofsted, offering a genuinely rewarding opportunity to teach small groups within a structured, ambitious, and highly supportive academic environment.

About the School
This Enfield secondary school and sixth form has a well-earned reputation for mathematical excellence, with a department that prides itself on precision teaching, strong analytical outcomes, and a culture of genuine intellectual ambition. The curriculum is carefully sequenced from KS3 through to A-Level, with particular strength at GCSE and a growing sixth form cohort. Behaviour across the school is managed through clear, consistent expectations that create calm, focused learning environments - allowing every Maths Unqualified Teacher to work productively with small groups without the pressures of whole-class behaviour management. Staff are valued, well-supported, and given real opportunity to grow within the school community.

What the School Offers
  • A clearly structured small-group teaching model with full departmental guidance and resource support
  • Regular access to Maths Hub networks and subject-specific professional development opportunities
  • A school that actively supports unqualified teachers who wish to pursue formal teacher training pathways
  • Strong SLT visibility and a genuine open-door culture for staff at all levels
  • A thriving sixth form environment that provides rich mathematical context and stretches beyond GCSE

The Role
As a Maths Unqualified Teacher, you will deliver focused, small-group sessions to pupils across KS3 and KS4 who require additional support or targeted stretch and challenge. You will work closely with qualified Maths teachers to align your sessions with the departmental scheme of work, use formative assessment to adapt your teaching in the moment, and maintain clear records of pupil progress to share with the wider team. Contributing to a positive, purposeful learning atmosphere and upholding the school's high standards of conduct will be central to your day-to-day role as a Maths Unqualified Teacher in this school.

What the School is Looking For
This permanent Maths Unqualified Teacher position is best suited to candidates who:
  • Hold a strong academic background in Mathematics - a 2:1 degree or above from a reputable university, ideally in Maths or a closely related numerate discipline, preferably Russell Group
  • Can demonstrate experience working with secondary-age pupils in a teaching, tutoring, or mentoring capacity within a UK school or educational setting
  • Show a clear ability to plan and deliver structured sessions with evidence of measurable pupil progress
  • Are confident working within established whole-school behaviour and safeguarding frameworks
  • Are committed to a permanent, long-term role and ideally to pursuing QTS through a recognised UK teacher training programme
  • Are legally entitled to work in the UK - the school is unable to provide visa sponsorship

Please note that QTS is not a requirement for this role, though candidates currently working towards a UK teaching qualification are strongly encouraged to apply.

Salary & Contract
Outer London Unqualified Teacher Scale: competitive salary commensurate with experience. Candidates actively working towards QTS may be considered for MPS on qualification. TLR consideration available in due course for the right candidate.
