Job Description

SEND Tutor - Purpose-Led Education Opportunity
£30-£42 per hour Flexible working West Sussex

We are seeking dedicated SEND Tutors who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners who benefit from patience, encouragement, and consistency, alongside strong subject knowledge. Through personalised tuition, you'll help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve success at a pace that works for them.

Many tutors find this work both professionally fulfilling and personally rewarding, as it allows you to focus on what matters most-the individual learner, their progress, and their wellbeing. With flexible working arrangements, this role can be tailored around your availability while offering genuine impact every day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver predominantly face-to-face tuition (with some online sessions where required) to children and young people with SEND

  • Plan and deliver bespoke, learner-centred lessons that promote engagement and progress

  • Set and review SMART targets to support academic and personal development

  • Design targeted interventions to support both emotional and educational needs

  • Maintain safeguarding responsibilities in line with policy and best practice

  • Provide regular feedback on attendance, progress, and behaviour following each session

  • Conduct appropriate risk assessments to ensure safe learning environments

  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and relevant professional development opportunities

About You

We are looking for individuals who bring both expertise and empathy to their work, including:

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS) or experienced education practitioners

  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEND across primary, secondary, or post-16 settings

  • A strong ability to engage and motivate learners who may have faced barriers to education

  • Excellent communication and written skills

  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching approaches effectively

  • Confidence working independently and managing a varied caseload

  • Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one)

  • Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge and a commitment to safe practice

Safer Recruitment

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. All successful applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS checks and comprehensive vetting, including reference checks, right to work verification, qualification confirmation, and address history checks. Full safeguarding policies are available on our website.

If you're looking for a flexible, values-driven role where your work has real and lasting impact, we would love to hear from you.
