Our client is a privately owned construction and engineering specialist delivering high-quality projects across healthcare and complex build environments. They are committed to improving delivery efficiency while creating lasting social, economic, and environmental value.
They are now seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team and support the successful delivery of live projects across the business.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with the Quantity Surveyor and wider project teams to support the commercial management of projects from inception through to final account.
This is a hands-on position offering exposure across all stages of project delivery, including both pre- and post-contract activities. You will gain valuable experience within a fast-paced, supportive environment, with clear opportunities for career development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and issue of subcontract tender packages in accordance with project requirements and contractual obligations
- Support the evaluation of subcontractor tender submissions
- Attend internal and external meetings, including pre- and post-contract discussions
- Assist in the preparation and administration of subcontract orders, ensuring accurate documentation and record keeping
- Support the management of subcontract accounts, including valuations, remeasurement, and payment processing
- Assist in identifying, valuing, and agreeing variations
- Carry out quantity take-offs to support procurement and cost control activities
- Support subcontractor and supplier valuations and payment applications
- Assist with client valuations and applications for payment
- Contribute to project cost reporting and cash flow management
- Support procurement tracking and ensure key project milestones are achieved
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams as required
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date commercial systems and documentation
About You
- Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Some experience in a construction or commercial environment (placement or post-graduate)
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational ability
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage professionally with clients and supply chain partners
- Motivated, eager to learn, and keen to develop a long-term career in quantity surveying
