University of Warwick
Coventry, Warwickshire, United Kingdom
General Description
The University of Warwick is inviting applications for the position of NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry, an integrated academic training post designed to support medically qualified clinicians in developing a career that combines clinical practice with high-quality research. This role is part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Integrated Academic Training Programme.
The post offers a unique opportunity to undertake advanced research while continuing clinical training in psychiatry. The successful candidate will spend approximately 50% of their time engaged in academic research and 50% in clinical duties within an approved NHS training programme. The research component will be aligned with the University of Warwick's strengths in mental health, psychiatry, and related interdisciplinary fields.
The position aims to support the development of future clinical academics by enabling the postholder to establish an independent research profile, publish in leading journals, and contribute to grant applications. The role includes access to mentoring, structured training, and career development support.
The appointment is fixed-term in line with NIHR guidelines and is dependent on the candidate holding a National Training Number (NTN) in Psychiatry or being eligible to obtain one. The role will be based in Coventry and Warwickshire, with clinical duties delivered through NHS partner organisations.
