The National Lottery Community Fund is the largest single source of funding for community activity in the UK, investing hundreds of millions of pounds each year across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Through National Lottery funding, Dormant Assets and third-party programmes, we support communities to shape their own futures, strengthen connections and build a more inclusive and environmentally sustainable society.
As we enter the next phase of our strategy, It Starts with Community, our ambition and impact are growing. We are now seeking an exceptional leader to join us as Executive Director (Country Portfolios), a pivotal role at the heart of the organisation with responsibility for leadership across our four country portfolios.
Working through our Country Directors and alongside our Country Committees, you will oversee around £700 million of annual grant-making and provide leadership to more than 500 colleagues across the UK. You will ensure strong, consistent delivery while advancing our One Fund ambition, bringing together insight, learning and best practice to maximise impact for communities nationwide.
As a member of the Executive Committee, you will help shape the Fund's strategic direction, working closely with the CEO, Board and Committees. You will also represent the organisation externally, building influential relationships and contributing to wider thinking on community-led change and the future of funding.
We are looking for a strategic and collaborative systems leader who can thrive in a complex environment, lead through others and balance accountability with trust, learning and innovation. You may come from government, funding, civil society or another large, public-facing organisation. Wherever your background, you will bring significant executive leadership experience, sound judgement and the ability to build credibility quickly across a wide range of stakeholders.
Above all, you will share our belief in the power of communities to strengthen society and improve lives. If you are excited by the opportunity to lead at scale and help shape the future of community funding across the UK, we would be delighted to hear from you.
