Chair of the Board of Trustees
Independent Charity (Lived Experience-Led)
Unremunerated (reasonable expenses reimbursed)
UK wide Approx. 1-2 days per month
An independent, lived experience-led charity is seeking an inspirational and values driven Chair to lead its Board of Trustees at a pivotal time of organisational growth and system change.
The organisation works to ensure that the voices of people with lived experience of harm meaningfully influence national debate, public policy and system design. At a time of significant reform across the wider system - including new funding and commissioning arrangements - its role as a credible, independent lived experience voice is more important than ever.
As Chair, you will provide strategic leadership to the Board, uphold strong standards of governance and accountability, and work closely with the Chief Executive to guide the organisation through its next phase of development.
This is a formative appointment, offering the opportunity to help shape Board culture, strengthen governance foundations and ensure lived experience insight remains visible, valued and applied in decision making.
The Person
Proven senior leadership experience at executive or Board level
Strong understanding of governance, ideally within the charity or not for profit sector
Experience leading organisations through growth, change or complex political environments
A strong connection to social causes impacting people's lives, particularly individuals and communities who experience stigma
Strong leadership, facilitation and relationship building skills
This is a rare opportunity to play a decisive leadership role in shaping the future of an evolving system and to support an organisation with growing influence, credibility and ambition.
