Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their London office.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Town Planner to join a well-established consultancy working across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, and strategic development projects. The successful candidate will benefit from strong client exposure, varied project work, and excellent opportunities for career progression within a collaborative team environment.

THE ROLE

As a Town Planner, you will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission, negotiation, and determination.

You will manage your own projects while supporting senior colleagues on larger and more complex schemes, helping clients navigate the planning process and unlock development opportunities.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Town Planner looking to further develop their technical expertise and client management skills within a respected consultancy environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing planning applications and appeals across a range of development sectors
Preparing planning statements, appraisal reports, and supporting documentation
Undertaking site assessments and development feasibility studies
Advising clients on planning opportunities, risks, and development strategy
Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, consultees, and stakeholders
Attending client meetings, site visits, and planning consultations
Supporting senior colleagues on major and strategic projects
Contributing to business development and client relationship management

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership
Experience within a planning consultancy, developer, or local authority environment
Strong understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and project management abilities
Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
