Job Description

Mpeople Recruitment are seeking an experienced HGV Driver on behalf of our reputable client based in Salford.

  • Salary: £37,000 per annum
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Location: Manchester (working within a 20-mile radius)
  • Valid HGV Class 1 (12 months at least required)

Responsibilities would include:

  • Safely operate HGV vehicles in accordance with all road traffic laws and company procedures.
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Deliver and collect goods efficiently within a 20-mile radius of Manchester.
  • Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and on time.
  • Load and unload vehicles where required, ensuring goods are secured correctly for transport.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, vehicle documentation, and tachograph compliance.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients and customers.
  • Communicate effectively with the transport team regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or delays.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Keep vehicles clean, presentable, and roadworthy at all times.
  • Represent the company professionally whilst on customer sites and public roads.

The desired candidate would have the following experience:

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (12 months or longer required)
  • Previous HGV driving experience within a commercial transport environment.
  • Good knowledge of road transport regulations and driver hours legislation.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety procedures.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Reliable, professional, and customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Manchester and the surrounding areas.
  • Flexible approach to work and willingness to support operational requirements when needed.
