A well-established and growing construction business in Co. Down is seeking a Finance Controller to take full ownership of the finance function. This is a hands-on, commercially focused leadership role offering genuine progression to Finance Director as the business continues to scale.

The company is privately owned, fast-moving, and highly ambitious - making this an ideal opportunity for a driven finance professional ready to step into a true No.1 in Finance position.

Your new role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead the entire finance function, overseeing all financial operations, controls, reporting and commercial analysis. You will manage a small team across AP, AR and Payroll, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance while also driving strategic financial performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Full ownership of the finance function
  • Cashflow management, forecasting & financial planning
  • Monthly management accounts, reporting & analysis
  • Budgeting, cost control & profitability review
  • Oversight of AP, AR & Payroll
  • VAT, compliance & statutory requirements
  • Partnering with the MD on commercial decisions, pricing, tenders and performance improvement
  • Implementing and strengthening financial controls and processes

This is a role where you will be expected to challenge, influence and drive improvement, not simply produce reports.

What you'll need to succeed
  • QBE, part-qualified or qualified accountant with strong financial management experience
  • Background in construction or a similar project-based environment is advantageous
  • Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to operate as the senior finance lead
  • Experience managing or overseeing finance teams
  • Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the finance function

What you'll get in return
You will receive a competitive salary of £55,000-£65,000 DOE, along with a comprehensive benefits package including:
  • Flexible working hours
  • Annual Bonus structure
  • Early Friday finish
  • Hybrid working options
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture
  • Clear progression to Finance Director
  • Full autonomy as the No.1 in Finance
  • Direct partnership with a supportive and forward-thinking MD
  • Opportunity to shape the financial future of a growing business
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • Free parking and modern office facilities
  • Plus additional company benefits
  • This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where your contribution will be valued and visible.
