EHS Engineer (Temporary)

Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday-Thursday 08:00-16:30, Friday 08:00-16:00) Reporting to: EHS Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for a proactive and experienced EHS Engineer to join our team on a temporary basis. This role will play a key part in strengthening Environmental, Health & Safety compliance and risk management across our operations.

The initial focus will be on clearing a backlog of risk assessments and COSHH assessments, while also contributing more broadly to the EHS management system and ongoing compliance activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the completion and review of risk assessments and COSHH assessments across site operations
  • Develop, maintain, and improve risk assessment and COSHH registers
  • Support the effective operation of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 management systems
  • Participate in incident investigations using structured methodologies (e.g. 8D)
  • Support internal EHS audits and compliance monitoring
  • Contribute to the review and maintenance of the legal compliance register and statutory obligations
  • Maintain EHS records, registers, and required documentation
  • Support emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills and audits
  • Deliver EHS training across the site

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or actively working towards it)
  • Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and COSHH assessments in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK EHS legislation
  • Experience supporting or working within ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively

Desirable:

  • Direct experience working with hazardous chemicals and COSHH management
  • Experience with ISO 50001
  • HNC/HND in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or similar)
