Pastoral Lead (DSL) - Behaviour, Safeguarding & Family Liaison Lead
Are you passionate about safeguarding, behaviour support, and helping young people overcome barriers to learning? We're looking for a dedicated Pastoral Lead (DSL) to join our leadership team and play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment.
At Fairway School, you'll work closely with students aged 11-16 with SEMH and ASD needs, supporting their wellbeing, attendance, engagement and personal development while leading key safeguarding and behavioural initiatives across the school.
About the Role
As our Pastoral Lead, you will:
- Lead and develop behaviour and safeguarding practices across the school.
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), managing safeguarding referrals and ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures.
- Work proactively with students, staff and families to promote positive behaviour, engagement and attendance.
- Provide guidance, training and support to colleagues on behaviour management and safeguarding.
- Coordinate interventions and targeted support for vulnerable students.
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, social workers and external agencies to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
- Monitor attendance, support students at risk of missing education, and contribute to school-wide improvement initiatives.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working with children and young people with SEMH and/or ASD needs.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and family liaison work.
- Experience managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm, resilient and solution-focused in challenging situations.
- A genuine commitment to putting children and young people first.
A Level 3 qualification in working with children and young people is highly desirable, along with any qualifications in behavioural approaches or psychology.
