We are supporting a public sector client in hiring a Senior Frontend Developer to join an established engineering team delivering and maintaining web-based applications and REST API services across a secure environment.

This is a hands-on full stack development role with a strong emphasis on Python Flask and REST API development. The successful candidate will work across both the Back End and Front End, contributing to API design and implementation, TypeScript and React Front End development, and the ongoing maintenance and improvement of existing services.

This role suits an experienced Senior Frontend Developer with a solid Flask and REST API background, comfortable contributing across the full stack and working within a collaborative Agile team in a regulated, security-conscious environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Python Flask REST APIs, ensuring robust, well-tested and production-ready Back End services
• Contribute to Front End development using React and TypeScript, building and maintaining user-facing application components
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture and delivery teams to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and Agile sprint ceremonies
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability across Back End and Front End workstreams
• Maintain technical documentation and adhere to best practices in code quality, security and governance
• Support the ongoing maintenance, debugging and optimisation of existing application services

Essential Skills

• Strong Python proficiency with hands-on experience building REST APIs using Flask or similar frameworks
• Experience with React and TypeScript for Front End application development
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles and best practices
• Experience writing unit and integration tests across Python and JavaScript or TypeScript codebases
• Comfortable working within Agile delivery environments and collaborative engineering teams
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable Skills

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control using Git and Azure DevOps or similar tooling
• Familiarity with containerisation using Docker and cloud platform deployment across AWS or Azure
• Knowledge of data security and governance best practices within regulated environments
• Experience working within public sector or similarly security-conscious delivery environments
