Hours: Monday to Friday 07:30-16: hours per week
Additional: Overtime available 1 in 4 on-call rota

HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician
Are you an experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Truck Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician looking for a varied role with excellent earning potential?
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a well-established fleet maintenance operation based in Thatcham. This is an excellent opportunity for an HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Truck Technician to earn between £45,200 and £55,(Apply online only) per year, while working Monday to Friday with excellent overtime rates and the opportunity to develop your skills on specialist equipment.
As an HGV Technician, you'll work on a diverse fleet including HGVs, vans and specialist equipment, offering plenty of variety alongside ongoing technical training.
The Role - HGV Technician
As an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician, you will:
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, LGVs and commercial vehicles
- Complete PMIs, inspections and MOT preparation
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
- Attend breakdowns and support mobile repairs as part of the on-call rota
- Service and maintain specialist equipment with full training provided
- Complete job cards and service documentation accurately
- Ensure all repairs are completed to DVSA and company standards
- Work safely while maintaining high workshop standards
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Truck Technician or Commercial Vehicle Technician
- Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance qualification or equivalent, or a minimum of five years' commercial vehicle experience
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience working on HGVs and commercial vehicles
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Good understanding of electrical systems and vehicle diagnostics
Desirable
- Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Welding or fabrication experience
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system knowledge
- Experience maintaining plant or specialist equipment
