Position: Business Development Manager - Solar PV & Renewables

Our client is a leading national distributor of building materials, construction products and renewable energy solutions, with significant investment being made into the continued expansion of its Solar PV division.

As a result of this growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to drive sales across Southern England, developing relationships with both existing and new customers while identifying opportunities across the residential and commercial construction sectors.

This is a highly autonomous role, offering the chance to take ownership of an established territory, develop strategic customer relationships and play a key part in the growth of one of the business's fastest-growing product categories.

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, you'll be responsible for growing sales of Solar PV and renewable energy solutions throughout Southern England.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing new business while maximising opportunities within existing accounts.
• Selling Solar PV systems, renewable energy products and associated construction solutions.
• Building long-term relationships with:
  • Solar PV installers
  • Roofing contractors
  • Electrical contractors
  • Builders' merchants
  • Main contractors
  • Property developers
  • Housing Associations
  • Local Authorities
  • Regional and National Housebuilders
• Identifying specification and project opportunities from enquiry through to completion.
• Delivering technical and commercial presentations to customers.
• Working closely with internal technical, product management and branch teams to ensure exceptional customer support.
• Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and new renewable technologies to identify growth opportunities.
• Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and delivering against agreed sales targets.

You'll ideally have experience working with customers such as solar installers, roofing contractors, electrical contractors, builders' merchants, developers, housebuilders, local authorities or main contractors.

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• A successful track record in business development, technical sales or account management.
• Strong commercial awareness and excellent negotiation skills.
• The ability to build relationships with stakeholders at every level.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach and excellent territory management skills.
• A genuine interest in renewable energy and sustainable construction.
