Technical Paraplanner

Location: Chew Valley (Office-Based)

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:45am-5:00pm (Friday: 8:45am-12:45pm)

Transport: Own transport essential due to location

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Paraplanner to join a highly respected, independent financial planning firm. This is a key hire within the business, replacing a senior paraplanner who has been promoted, alongside another team member who is approaching retirement, making this an excellent opportunity for a long-term career move within a stable and well-established environment.

This is a genuinely technical, hands-on paraplanning role within a holistic, whole-of-market advisory firm that places strong emphasis on quality advice and in-depth research. Unlike many larger organisations, the business does not rely on templated reports or outsourced investment solutions, instead maintaining full control over advice quality and investment decisions across a wide range of platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level technical paraplanning support to financial advisers
  • Prepare detailed suitability reports and complex financial planning recommendations
  • Conduct in-depth research across multiple platforms and product providers
  • Support advisers with pre-sale case preparation and technical analysis
  • Assist with pension transfer analysis and pre-approval work where applicable
  • Liaise with providers and platforms to obtain and interpret technical information
  • Ensure all advice is compliant, accurate, and tailored to individual client needs
  • Work collaboratively with advisers to deliver high-quality holistic financial planning solutions

About You

We are looking for a true career paraplanner with significant experience in a technical paraplanning environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong experience in a paraplanning role within an independent or whole-of-market environment
  • Likely Chartered or working towards Chartered status (or equivalent level of technical expertise)
  • Pension Transfer qualification (desirable, particularly for involvement in pre-approval work)
  • Excellent technical knowledge across pensions, investments, and holistic financial planning
  • Experience working across multiple platforms and providers
  • Strong report writing and analytical skills
  • A detail-focused and quality-driven approach to work
  • Ability to work independently and support advisers at a high technical level

This role would suit someone who is frustrated by templated, production-line paraplanning and is instead looking for a more involved, intellectually challenging position where technical input is valued and expected.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary (flexible depending on experience and qualifications)
  • Long-term career opportunity within a stable and growing business
  • Highly technical, varied, and engaging workload
  • Genuine involvement in complex financial planning cases
  • Supportive and professional working environment
  • Early finish on Fridays
