We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable franchise-approved commercial vehicle dealership in Cardiff for the role of Compound / Class 1 Driver. This position offers a stable career within a respected dealer group.
The Compound / Class 1 Driver will handle vehicle movements, storage, and deliveries across the dealership network. Responsibilities include accepting deliveries, maintaining accurate vehicle records, preparing vehicles for PDI, conducting collections and drop-offs, and operating a vehicle transporter as needed. Full tachograph compliance and adherence to safety regulations are essential.
Drivers must hold a full UK driving licence with a Class 1 qualification, preferably with minimal points. Organisation, reliability, and the ability to work independently are required. Excellent customer service skills are necessary, and experience with vehicle transport and tachograph regulations is advantageous but not essential, as full training is provided.
Benefits for the Compound / Class 1 Driver include:- Salary: 28,764 per annum, dependent on experience and current earnings
- Working hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm, Fridays 8:30am-4:00pm
- No weekend work
- 22 days annual holiday plus bank holidays (bank holidays worked earn a day off in lieu)

Duties include:- Moving vehicles between site locations and to customers
- Accepting vehicle deliveries and preparing vehicles for PDI
- Maintaining accurate vehicle records on site
- Collecting and delivering vehicles to customers, suppliers, and bodyshops
- Conducting vehicle inspections and reporting concerns
- Operating vehicle transporter safely and in compliance with tachograph regulations
- Ensuring vehicles are presented to the highest standards
- Following all safety and company procedures at all times
Requirements:- Full UK Driving Licence with Class 1 qualification
- Minimal points on licence preferred
- Organised, reliable, and capable of working independently
- Ability to manage multiple vehicle movements efficiently
- Customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Experience with vehicle transporter operation and tachograph regulation is advantageous but not essential
