About the role
The Government and Official Information Team at the British Library manages and promotes a unique national collection of print electoral registers, which dates back to 1832, and data versions from 2007. We receive print copies of the revised full electoral register annually in December as thousands of separate polling districts from 350 councils. We check these for completeness and sort them into constituencies for binding. Once bound they are shelved ready for consultation by researchers. The data copies come in at the same time as CSV files via a secure email system and are downloaded and stored.
We are looking for a highly organised Electoral Registers Assistant to liaise with local authorities; organise and manage the receipt of print and data versions of the annual register, prepare the print version for binding; and download the data files to secure storage.
If you have good organisational skills, the ability to work to agreed standards and deadlines, and are an effective communicator orally and in writing we would love to hear from you.
