Electrical Engineering Technician (Terminal Engineering)
Location: Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Reports to: Engineering Team Leader
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 Days / 2 Nights, 12-hour shifts)
Salary: £37,152 (increasing to £45,408 upon achieving full competence and successful completion of the funded HNC in Operations Engineering)

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Technician to join the Terminal
Engineering team at the Airport. Working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team, you will help maintain the critical infrastructure and engineering systems that keep one of the UK's busiest airports operating safely and efficiently 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This role is ideal for someone who has recently completed their electrical qualification and is looking to build a long-term engineering career within a complex operational environment. It also offers an excellent opportunity for experienced electricians who would like to broaden their engineering skills beyond electrical installations while working across a diverse range of building services and airport systems.

Training and Development
• We are committed to developing our engineers through structured learning and practical experience.
• As part of your development programme, the company will fully fund a Higher National
Certificate (HNC) in Operations Engineering, allowing you to gain a nationally recognised
Level 4 qualification while developing your practical engineering skills.
• You will receive structured training, mentoring and supervised experience across a wide range
of engineering disciplines, with progression based on competency, technical knowledge and safe working practices.
• Upon successful completion of the HNC and demonstration of full operational competence, your salary will increase to £45,408.

The Role
• Working under the direction of the Shift Engineering Team Leader, you will:
• Carry out planned preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance across the airport estate.
• Assist with fault finding, diagnosis, testing and repair of engineering systems.
• Help restore equipment safely and efficiently following breakdowns.
• Complete maintenance documentation using the airport's maintenance management systems.
• Assist with engineering projects, upgrades and planned refurbishments.
• Support stock control and management of engineering spare parts.
• Work safely in accordance with the Airport Safety Management System, permits to work and
isolation procedures.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, operational teams, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Participate fully in the structured training and competency programme.

Systems You Will Work On
• During your training and development, you'll gain experience maintaining:
• Electrical distribution systems
• Building electrical installations
• Fire detection and alarm systems
• Baggage handling and conveyor systems
• Automatic doors
• Gates and barriers
• Access control systems
• HVAC and air conditioning systems
• Plumbing and drainage systems
• Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Building fabric
• Other operational engineering systems across the airport

About You
• Applicants must have successfully completed:
• City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations (2365) or An equivalent recognised Level 3 electrical qualification.

Working Pattern
• This position operates on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, working 12-hour shifts comprising:
• 2 Day Shifts
• 2 Night Shifts
• 4 Days Off
• Overtime opportunities may also be available.
